Proviron is a oral anabolic and androgenic steroid. It has a strong androgenic component and it does not turn into estrogen. In clinical use, Proviron is useful to treat sexual dysfunctions which often result from low testosterone levels. Can reverse problems like lack of libido and impotence or even increase sperm count. Proviron does not stimulate the body to produce its own testosterone but is an oral substitute to it.
Although it is strongly androgenic the anabolic effect of this steroid is too small to lead to increased muscle mass. That is because it is easily converted in the inactive metabolite DHT (dihydrotestosterone).
In sports Proviron is used as an anti-estrogenic, preventing or slowing aromatization of other steroids. The result is comparable to Arimidex (though less effective), preventing the buildup of estrogen in the body. It is diffrent from antiestrogen meds like Nolvadex; those only block estrogen from binding to the estrogen receptors. Proviron is prefferd being more direct and effective in fighting the estrogenic side effects. Most use Proviron and Nolvadex tougheter, attacking the same problem from different angles and obtaining much better results.
Anti-estrogenic properties of Proviron are not unique. Other steroids like dihydrotestosterone or Masteron have the same properties and are used successfully to combat gynecomastia and breast cancer.
Proviron is used when you want low levels of estrogens and a high androgenic environment. It can be stacked very well with Winstrol, Oxandrolone or Primobolan. Proviron can help give a hard look to the muscles and increase density.
Being a strong andrigenic steroid it must be used with caution by women; can easily cause virilisation symptoms. Women won't use more than 25 mg / day for no more than 4-5 weeks.
Men typical dose is 25-100mg / day. These doses are sufficient to ensure that gynecomastia will not occur. As I said earlier it can be combined with Nolvadex, especially when powerful steroids are used, that convert easly to estrogen as Dianabol or testosterone. 50 mg of Proviron and 20 mg of Nolvadex per day have been shown to be extremely effective in the case of such heavy cycles.
Proviron is well tolerated, and side effects are rare in men at doses below 100 mg / day. Side effects that may occur are androgenic: oily skin, acne, increased facial and body hair, male pattern baldness (especially if you are genetically predisposed). Increased libido may occur. Proviron is an oral steroid but it is not toxic for the liver.
Proviron is a trademark of Schering. There were no reported fakes of this product so you can buy any version you can find. A preferred alternative to Proviron is Arimidex, but is more expensive and has no androgenic propreties.
