Insulin-like growth factor 1 from wich IGF-1 LR3 is derived, is a peptide hormone that is found naturally in the human body. It belongs to the same family of hormones like insulin. In comparations with other peptide hormones IGF-1 is relatively small, having a chain of 70 amino acids. But this has no relevance to its biological importance.
